    Jordan National Program Impact Study

    WeatherTec Rainfall Enhancement

    February, 2019

  • The cost per m3 usable water is 0.13 JOD. Thus, 13% of market value and by far lower than any other technology.

  • The generated usable water has a value of over $140million per yearat global market value of 1 JOD per m3. By utilizing this return as a subsidy, the government could generateevery year a significant impact on the economy.

  • By investing the subsidies in accordance to each sector’s contribution to GDP, the subsidy would have an economic impact of app. $190 million and would create app. 15.000 jobs.

  • $ 5-7 million savings by reducing energy consumption: 5°C temperature reduction lowers the demand for electricity

  • Safeguard Health: Prevent health risks for young and elderly who suffer at high temperatures

  • WeatherTec - the “next generation” environmental technology - is more efficient, the cheapest and at the same time highest water producer.

Project Switzerland, Frauenfeld and Monte Ceneri, 2005

Meteo Systems, the predecessor of WeatherTec, was contracted by the Swiss Government to test V 1.0 Atlant Technology Northern and Southern Switzerland to enhance rainfalls and snowfalls as well as dissipate fog. The project proved successful technology capabilities under difficult conditions and the readiness for implementation in drought areas.

    image description
    • The first presentation of the applications for the Swiss government were in Switzerland itself. The rainfalls in the northern part of Switzerland were obvious and have proven that the technology achieved additional rainfalls in middle Europe.
    • On the Southern rim of the Swiss Alps the snowfall enhancement targeted a solution to mitigate the drought situation during the summers in that area and finally to prevent forest fires which brought threat to the population and tourists in this most favorite region
    • Dissipation of cold fog in the Northern region was executed successfully.

    Project Jordan, 2016 - ongoing

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan adopted the WeatherTec Ionization Technology in May 2016. Since then four stations are operated in the northwestern part of the Kingdom. The operation covers an area of approximately 10’000 km2. The increased rainfalls shall refill dams, e.g., King Talal Dam, ensure fresh water for households and for irrigation as well as slow down the decrease of ground water levels.

    • Jordan Government Report about the success of the Technology in 2016-2019

+35% more Rainfall compared with neighboring areas

Main dams were filled by 100% first time since the last 40 years

      30% increase in rainfed plantations

Extension of the wet season by over 2 months

Strong Mitigation of the rapidly declining groundwater levels

    • Breaking 30-Year Trend of Less Precipitation

This 30-year precipitation chart (1986 to 2026) represents the declining of the mean annual rainfall in Jordan.

This negative trend will continue unless a solution is put in place. This is where WeatherTec comes into play. Since WeatherTec started its operations in 2016 the trend line has been going upwards.

In the case WeatherTec continues its operations for rainfall enhancement in Jordan for the upcoming 7 years, the difference will be staggering.

Project United Arab Emirates 1, Ras Al Keimah, 2006

Meteo Systems, the predecessor of WeatherTec, tested the V 1.0 Atlant Ionization Technology in the desert of the Emirate of Ras Al Keimah with a contract from the Swiss Government. International experts and the national meteorological offices collaborated in this project to create rainfalls in this semi-arid and arid region as well as cloud coverage to decrease the ground temperature.

    image description
      • • Several rainfalls were generated successfully with an increase of total rainfall of app. 800% compared to the long-term average during the same time period
      • • Rain filled for the first time the local dams since their construction
      • • The large amount of water in the dams secured the agricultural needs of the region
      • • The Ionization Technology proved to create a "comfort climate" through cloud coverage
      • • The cloud Coverage generated by Ionization Technology had an abnormal intensity for the period of the year and reduced the temperature on the ground by approximately 5°C
      • • Authorities declared substantial savings of energy cost for cooling purposes

Project United Arab Emirates 2, Al Ain, 2009-2010

Meteo Systems, the predecessor of WeatherTec, operated during 2009 in the region of Al Ain east of the Al Hajar mountains. The five stations operated to increase rainfalls for agriculture and decrease the temperature through cloud coverage. For this project the new emitter system V 2.0 WeatherTec was developed.

    • • The project included a Proof of Concept and was the first commercial project on a larger scale
    • • The impact was observed by experts of Max Planck Institute and LMU University Munich
    • • German TÜV SÜD conducted successfully the ISO 9001:2008 Certification

    image description
    • Very successful number of rainfalls: 52 rainfall events despite to the national forecast of zero rainfalls for the same period.
      • • Additional water supply for agriculture
      • • Refill ground water basins for the first time during summer in semi-arid region
      • • Comfort climate during hottest period with temperature reductions of up to 13°C thanks to rainfalls - a very unusual experience for the population
      • • Numerous days with cloud coverage generated by the WeatherTec emitters decreased the temperature by up to 5°C
      • • City of Al Ain experienced strong savings in energy usage for cooling

    Project Australia 1, Brisbane, 2007

Australian Rain Corporation, a subsidiary, enhanced rainfalls near Brisbane for the Australian Government. The Ionization Technology enhanced the drought braking events after 3 years of severe droughts. The enhanced rainfalls covered a catchment area of 7’400 km2 of the Wivenhoe Dam to refill the dam which had an initial capacity of 18%.

    image description
      • • The catchment received 31 mm or 27% more rainfall compared to all neighboring regions, the highest absolute and relative difference over the last 50 years
      • • The total estimated water volume was 990 Mm3 = nearly 1 Billion m3.
      • • This rainfall amount is equivalent to several years water supply from Wivenhoe river, demonstrating the large potential benefits of enhancing rainfall by the technology
      • • The range of influence of the Atlant system could be estimated to have a diameter of 50-100 km, depending on the meteorological situation in each case.

Project Australia 2, Bundaberg Region, 2008

Australian Rain Corporation, a subsidiary, was appointed by the Australian Government / National Water Commission to enhance rainfalls in the Bundaberg region for agriculture, forestry, and refilling of the Paradise Dam. The project was observed by University of Queensland and measured by University of Wollongong.

The impact was a substantial increase in the water available for the agricultural and municipal area of Bundaberg.

    image description
      • • Enhancement of rainfalls with a substantial increase in the catchment area of Paradise Dam
      • • Target area recorded a 55% higher rainfall amount in the January - May 2008 period compared to the previous 100 years
